The 9-day Hokkaido Indy trip is an itinerary that handles all of your ski logistics so that you can explore Hokkaido and ski four participating Indy member resorts in the region as well as the must-ski resorts of Tomamu and Kiroro. Just book your travel to one of the starting points and we'll pick you up from there!
A JST host will join for the entire duration of the trip, journeying together by private bus, ensuring smooth transitions at each accommodation and ski resort, and orienting the group on how to be great guests during your stay in Japan. We'll handle the logistical outline but you choose the activity for each day, whether it's an action-packed day at the resort, a mellow day of ski touring, or a rest day to scope out the local attractions. Travel and ride with like-minded skiers as you road trip to some of Hokkaido’s best resorts. All lift tickets are included in the price of the trip. Indy Pass holders receive a discounted rate, as they will use their pass for free skiing at participating Indy Pass resorts. |

Day
1 [Pickup day] |
Arrival logistics. Pickup is at Hokkaido's CTS Airport at 1pm. After pickup, transfer to the Hoshino OMO7 hotel, located in the middle of Asahikawa city--the gateway for skiing in central Hokkaido. Trip orientation will be provided by your JST host upon arrival at OMO7. On the evening of day 1, we'll have a big welcome dinner together to kick off the trip!
Day
2 Pippu |
Ski Pippu, accessed by a privately chartered bus (45min) through JST. Pippu Ski Resort offers a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere while remaining a hidden gem for powder enthusiasts. If you love the Indy Pass, you're gonna love Pippu. Enjoy an authentic Japanese meal at night with the group, provided by JST.
Day
3 Nayoro |
Ski Nayoro Piyashiri, another Indy Pass resort, accessed by a privately chartered bus (90min) through JST. Located on Hokkaido's northern peninsula, Nayoro is farther north than most ski tourists will ever venture, but its location makes it a powder paradise with little competition!
Day
4 Kamui [Transfer Day] |
Check out of the hotel in the morning and ski Kamui Ski Links, accessed by a privately chartered bus (40min) through JST. Kamui Ski Links, owned by the town of Asahikawa, offers world-class powder and a laid-back atmosphere, making it a top choice for local skiers and riders. Then, head 2.5 hours to Tomamu. Famous for Tomamu Ski Resort, this is a "can't miss" ski resort if you're in the region!
Day
5 Tomamu |
Ski out of our slopeside accommodation at the base of Tomamu. Our 4-star accommodation is one of the best on this trip. If you want a break from skiing, you can catch a short shuttle ride to a huge wave pool and great onsen hot springs, free for anyone staying at the hotel. While Tomamu isn't an Indy Pass member, you can't miss it if you're already in this region!
Day
6 Mt Racey [Transfer Day] |
Check out of our Tomamu hotel early and head to our final base of Otaru via a ski stop at Mount Racey, an Indy Pass member resort. We arrive in the port-side town of Otaru in the evening, just in time to go to some of Hokkaido's best sushi.
Day
7 Kiroro |
Kiroro resort gets a ridiculous amount of powder each winter and shines in its tree skiing and side country opportunities. The resort is accessed each day via our privately chartered bus (45min).
Day
8 Sapporo Kokusai |
Ski Sapporo Kokusai—located just across the mountain range from Kiroro, it receives comparable snowfall but sees far fewer crowds thanks to its more low-key access. Or, if you’re looking for a break from skiing, the nearby town of Otaru offers plenty to explore, from whisky and sake distilleries to a renowned glass museum. On our final evening, we’ll wrap up the trip with a group yakiniku (Japanese barbecue) dinner to celebrate the week.
Day
9 Kiroro [Transfer Day] |
After a final ski day at Kiroro, it's time to head back to CTS airport via Otaru train station for the drop-off. After a full ski day, our bus leaves Kiroro at 4pm, arriving at Otaru train station (with easy transfer options to Niseko area resorts) at 5:00pm and CTS airport at 6:30pm.

All of our accommodations include free access to hot springs

On the Hokkaido Indy Trip, you will stay in Western-style modern, clean accommodations. The trip includes six nights in the centrally located and authentic Japanese towns of Asahikawa and Otaru as well as two nights in Hokkaido's premier ski-in/ski-out resort, Tomamu. Our hotels in Asahikawa and Otaru are walking distance to a plethora of local izakayas, bars, and restaurants, making a quick nightcap or a local karaoke session a breeze. The hotel rooms are quite spacious by Japanese standards and the large daily buffet breakfasts feature Hokkaido specialties with both Japanese and Western options available. While two of the resorts are a shuttle ride away from the slopes, our stay at Tomamu is ski-in/out! Getting There
There are two options to meet the group:
Option 1: Meet at CTS Airport at 1pm on Day 1 in front of the MOS Burger on the 1st floor of the Arrivals lobby, next to Arrivals Gate #2
Option 2: Meet in the lobby of the OMO7 Hotel in Asahikawa, Hokkaido, at 4:30pm on Day 1 of your trip |
Getting Back
The drop-off at the end of this trip is the same as the pick-up point.
Unless you want to get off at Otaru train station at 5:00pm, the drop-off point is CTS Airport at 6:30pm. To allow for delays due to road closures related to snow/blizzard conditions, do not get a departing domestic flight that leaves earlier than 8:00pm or an international departing flight that leaves earlier than 9:00pm.
Alternate Endings
If you want to continue on to ski Niseko at the end of your trip, you can catch a 6:22pm train from Otaru Station that gets into Kutchan Station (Niseko's main train station) at 7:49pm. See the route on Google Maps here.
This trip includes large daily buffet breakfasts which are served at each accommodation. For dinner, we've included four off-site dinners in Asahikawa and Otaru plus two hotel buffet dinners at Tomamu. Note that meal vouchers at Tomamu can also be used at dozens of restaurants within the resort complex, so you're not stuck with a big buffet if you don't want to be!
14 meals are included in this trip! The four off-site dinners we reserve for the group include incredible sushi, Japanese BBQ yakiniku, Japanese chicken skewers yakitori, and a nice buffet for a welcome meal on the first night. (Dinner locations and menu are subject to change depending on the restaurant schedules.) The food options will not only satisfy you but also leave you feeling healthy and well taken care of. *Note that dietary constraints such as vegan or gluten-free are notoriously difficult to cater to in Japan and culinary options (especially off-site meals) will be quite limited for such dietary constraints. |
