Storm Chaser Lodging
Both of the hotels we experience on this trip feature a fusion of Western and Japanese hotel styles. Experience the comfort of western style rooms with a Japanese flair. Both of our hotels feature in-hotel Onsen hot springs, complete with a sauna to recover from all that powder-slaying! All hotels are solidly in the 3-star+ range and are very comfortable, clean and cater to skiers very well.
Pricing for this trip is based on shared twin-room accommodation but single supplements (single rooms for solo travelers) are available for an extra charge, available during check out (subject to availability). |

Our hotel in the quaint town of Furano (nights 1-3)
|
Our hotel in Furano is the La Vista Furano Hills, located in the center of town next to Furano station. This hotel is one of the best in the downtown Furano area, and is within walking distance to the amenities that the town has to offer. Unlike many ski towns, the Furano "resort area" is quite spread out and lacks good options within walking distance. With this hotel however, we're able to walk around town for our evening meals and can easily get an apres beer or two.
The La Vista is one of the newest establishments in Furano, opening in late 2019. The hotel boasts a spectacular rooftop indoor and outdoor Onsen (hot springs), with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. The rooms are quite spacious by Japanese standards and the large daily buffet breakfast features Hokkaido specialties with both Japanese and western options available. Stats:

Our Hotel in the port-city of Otaru (nights 4-6)
|
In Otaru, we stay at the Dormy Inn Premium Hotel. This centrally located hotel is within walking distance of the famous Otaru canal, a pedestrian avenue aptly named "sushi street", a fish market with live crabs you can order and a number of bars. This hotel features a in-hotel Onsen hot springs complete with sauna!
